It has been months since I last posted anything. I am very disappointed in myself for not having the discipline to write while I have been working. My Internet connection has been difficult, that and I have been binge drinking.
As you may recall, I gave up my hedonistic lifestyle to return to the land of the working. I am still living in Thailand, but am working in Africa. Mainly Nigeria, Uganda, and Tanzania. I work as a military advisor.
Let me start by saying that Wendy and I are doing very fine. She has moved back to Chanthaburi (we have a nice modern duplex). We speak on the phone, SMS, and use Skype everyday to communicate. She is honest and loyal beyond my expectations.
Now Africa…
Whites have a name in Swahili, we are known as Mzungu, which means European, but now translates to “Rich, White Man”. You also see the same oddity here of the sixty plus year old gentlemen walking hand-in-hand with a young, and oh-so strikingly beautiful woman. You can guess which one is the Mzungu.
For those of you who are not afraid of black women this is the place. The game is on here, and is played very much like it is in Thailand. Some exceptions…
The biggest exception is the absolute lack of go-go bars, and everyone knows how I love the go-go bars. Everything in Africa is freelance. Perhaps there are pimps working behind the scene, but if so, they are very subtle.
In Kampala, Uganda there is a venue named The Rock Garden. Those of you familiar with Bangkok, think Beer garden mixed with Climax. It is an outdoor disco.
The place is packed with women from all over sub-Saharan Africa. The more attractive ladies are from Kenya, Burundi, and Rwanda. The game attracts these women for the same reason the game draws them in worldwide. Money.
Few, if any of these ladies were trafficked. They came free-willed. Now as with all other ladies, they are not happy with their choice, but they accept life as it is, and in Africa, that’s not very good. As in South-East Asia, many ladies who have credible jobs will “supplement” their income.
The going rate for service is negotiable, and the less experienced customer usually pays too much. Sound familiar? My role throughout the process was the negotiator. I’m sticking to that. I usually assisted my colleges to a price point around 1100 baht +/-.
One odd thing about Africa is; there is no short time. Everything is long time. African women don’t understand volume like Asians. The ladies claim that at 2:00 AM their building manager wont let them enter. I think the main reason they try and stay overnight is; that they hope you don’t hide your valuables, which they in turn can rob you. “Overnight guests” robbed several of my colleges.
I think falling asleep with a hooker in your room is asking for trouble.
Field reports are you get a great service, as many times as you can, without the “clock watching”, which is a nice touch. Almost all the women in Tanzania, and Nigeria speak English well enough, certainly better than Thai girls.
Understand that sub-Saharan Africa has an un-imaginable HIV and Hepatitis C rate. Those who like to “bare-back” or “raw-dog” are certifiably insane to try that here. (Or anywhere in my opinion.)
In many ways African women are a lot like Filipina women. They are poor, lovely, speak English well, and their religious guilt makes them more romantic. If you’re into that “girlfriend experience” this could be good.
I am making Thailand the base for the next phase of my life, however if things turned poorly, I could see relocation to Dar es Salaam for a short stint. Those who are Thailand, round-trips to Dar es Salaam are around 24,000 baht.
Serengeti, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, and sexy black girls… Think about it.
